MySpace Theme Launch (!!!)

Ok, so a while back MySpace commissioned me to design a background for their new platform, and it's finally launched! I've been dying to tell everyone about this, but today is the day I can for real! Above is the link to my myspace profile where you can check out the theme in action, and if you have a MySpace page, upgrade to the new platform and try it out! I'm really excited with how everything came together so nicely, thanks MySpace team!

Polyvore is....wow

Polyvore is....super confusing. Being that I am a trained graphic designer, it's probably super sad that I cannot figure out how to work this site! I registered for an account, and then spent about 2 hours trying to "clip to polyvore" and failed miserably. I could end up spending all day making one silly collage, and so instead, I pilfered this one from the web :)
I had trouble sleeping last night and rewatched a bunch of episodes from the first season of Skins, so here's a silly collage about Cassie, who I think is my favorite character along with Sid. And also, how cute is that horse tank? Very cute.

Rhino Pillows in a Movie!

I just posted a new batch of Rhinos Smell Roses Pillows in the shop. Did you know they're going to be in a movie?! A set decorator bought a few for Henry's Crime (starring Keanu Reeves!). I believe it's premiering in a few weeks at the Toronto Film Festival.

An Interview with the HAND Drawing Collective

I did an interview over at the HAND drawing collective blog,
this is an excerpt from the lovely writeup they did for my work:

"Her dreamy small-scale works are marked by a vibrant pastel palette and whimsical hand-drawn characters making their way around cosmic found-image landscapes. Children scale magic mountains, gather wood, flaunt tribal masks, ride rhinos, and feed their animal friends amidst teepee villages which cast patterned shadows in the sun. We'd love to live vicariously through any of her charming, free-spirited creations."

Sneak Peek // The Beginning

Here's a little sneak peek of a fully hand printing textile project I'm working on. I did some test prints over the weekend and turned my apartment into a giant drying rack. Watch out for the real deal in the fall!

Hang in there with me

I'm trying to update the blog layout. I thought I was going to be all sneaky and do it overnight but it turns out it's a bit more difficult than I originally anticipated. That being said, there are still a few changes on the way, so hang in there with me while it's a bit of a mess!

IdN Extra 03: The New Twenties

Some fantastic news. IdN and Society6 teamed up a while back to create this book, "Idn Extra 03:The New Twenties" which has just come out! I have a spread in it and am alongside some truly fantastic artists.

Book description (from the IdN site): A scintillating survey of the work of today’s 20-somethings, who were all brought up in the technological boom years of the late 20th Century – and whose concepts of self-promotion and networking are radically different from those of their predecessors. In this third IdN Special Edition, we have collaborated with Society6, one of the largest online platforms for up-and-coming designers, to showcase the talent of 58 brilliant young artists with a contemporary outlook on creativity and communicating.

WORN Buttons for "Pin Up, Party Down"

A while back I designed a button for the lovely publication WORN for their ~Pin Up, Party Down~ event. They made 20 of my design and sold 10 to raise funds for issue 10 (!!) and mailed me the other 10! Tavi, the cutie pie behind Style Rookie recently posted about Worn and her contribution to all this button making excitement, it looks like a good time was had by all.
I have a few left to give away so the next 8 etsy orders (#'s 417-424)will get buttons in their pack as well!

Bunny Stamp ~ I caved

Last week I had talked about making a bunny stamp, and I totally caved. It came in the post right before the long weekend, and I've been bunny stamping everything since then. How much fun is a bunny stamp? Tons.

Since it is technically still a "holiday" here in the US, I'm moving at a nice leisurely pace today, starting everything off with a pot of tea (pear ginger black tea from the Tao of Tea) before diving into a few projects. Tomorrow's agenda...my very first jury duty.
